We are looking for English tutors who reside in South Africa to join our team on a part-time basis and make a difference in global education. This teaching role is suitable for individuals who are passionate about helping children grow their education and are looking for either part-time or full-time working opportunities.

The Job:

Working Hours:

  • Monday - Friday: 19:00 - 02:00 SAST
  • Monday - Friday 15:00 - 21:00 SAST
  • Monday - Friday 00:00 - 08:00 SAST

The classes are booked two weeks in advance within your working hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide young students in understanding the English language whilst delivering lessons based on a pre-set lesson plan.
  • Manage your teaching schedule which is set 2 weeks in advance.
  • Engage and encourage students positively in their English language learning journey.
  • Provide students with constructive feedback during classes through the use of error correction techniques.
  • Manage a classroom and provide feedback to students on their language proficiency.

Minimum requirements:

  • A matric/high school diploma is required
  • A 120-hour TEFL/TESOL certificate is required
  • 3 months of teaching experience (formal or informal) is required
  • 3 months of English teaching experience is preferred
  • Great command of the English language (accent neutral)
  • Computer literate and able to troubleshoot

Technical Requirements:

Internet Connection:

  • A stable FIBRE internet connection - at a minimum of 25 Mbps upload and download speeds 
  • PC is connected via a LAN cable and not via a Wi-Fi connection 

PC specifications :

  • Processor: Intel ® Core™ i5 Six Generation Processor
  • Quad Core CPU
  • Memory: 8GB RAM or greater

Backup power system:

  • Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS)/ Portable Power Staton with a battery life of up to 4-5 hours (2000VA / 300 WH).
  • A separate mini power supply system to power your fibre router as an independent system.

    Other:

    • Noise-cancelling  headsets and HD web camera. 
    • Back-up headset is highly recommended 
    • Tidy, well-lit, and quiet teaching environment  

    Our Process:

    1. Initial application - You will complete a grammar assessment and submit your CV.
    2. Video Screening - You will be sent an email containing the link to a video screening and infrastructure questionnaire. This questionnaire is designed to help us better understand you as a teacher and the infrastructure you have and don’t have. Please note that home-based tutors must have a FIBRE connection to apply, but we only require tutors to have the power systems and headsets on hiring not to apply.
    3. Interview Stage - Should your video screening be successful we'll invite you for a virtual interview so we can get to know each other a bit better and discuss the role in more detail.
    4. Training and Hiring - Should your interview go well, the next step would be to get you trained up and teaching.
